A DOUBLE CHALLENGE FOR ELOGIA

For those (few) who do not know Fnac, we summarize what it is: Fnac is a French company specialized in the sale of electronic items, computers, photographic items, libros , music and video. It is one of the largest e-commerce pioneers in online sales in 9 countries, with Spain and Portugal being two of its most important markets. In an increasingly changing online environment in the electronics and IT sector, Fnac came to Elogia with a double challenge, We should work on the Spanish and Portuguese markets simultaneously, but both with different objectives and different realities.

INCREASE TRAFFIC AND IMPROVE CONVERSION RATE

On the one hand, in the Spanish market We needed to increase traffic to the website (especially due to competitors like Amazon who pose greater competition than in the Portuguese market). And on the other hand, in Portugal We needed to improve the conversion rate and take advantage of the traffic that we were already receiving on the web (especially considering that the market share is smaller). For these reasons, for Fnac Spain We focus the strategy on content generation for the most important pages that would help us achieve greater visibility on Google – optimizing texts, meta tags and graphic assets. On the other hand, for Fnac Portugal we proposed a different scenario, focusing on improve traffic quality , thanks to the implementation of structured data, the cleaning of toxic links or the elimination of crawling errors.

MORE THAN €8M GENERATED BY THE ORGANIC CHANNEL IN THE FIRST HALF

Under this strategic approach tailored to the needs of each country, the results have not been long in coming, generating a significant improvement in organic traffic (around 21%) in Spain and the sales and income (around 50%) in Portugal. These improvements translated into numbers are more than€8M through the organic channel in the first half of 2018 at Fnac Spain, and €5M in Portugal .  After this first successful phase of optimizations, we are already working on the future of the account to implement the AMP technology on both websites, to help us continue improving results on mobile devices.
